Beijing becomes most popular tourist city during Golden Week

Ctrip.com, China's largest online travel service, and the Nielsen Company, the global leading market research company, jointly issued the list of national popular tourist cities during the National Day Golden Week on October 5.

The top ten cities with the most out-going travelers during the National Holiday this year are Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Xi'an, Wuhan, Chongqing and Nanjing. And the top ten cities which received the most tourists are Beijing, Hangzhou, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Qingdao, Nanjing, Suzhou, Xi'an, Xiamen and Sanya.

Shanghai was the top tourist city in China during previous golden weeks, but Beijing becomes the most popular city during this Golden Week.

Guo Guang, director of Ctrip's Holiday Service, said that October has always been Beijing's tourist peak season, and this year Beijing arouses even more domestic and foreign tourists' interests due to the success of the Beijing Olympic Games. The elements about the Olympics are the main tourist attraction.
